Shape the Future of Clinical Research

"Every trial we run is a real patient waiting for an answer."

At MDTrials, we don't just manage clinical trials — we build the systems, teams, and trust that bring life-changing therapies from hypothesis to approval. Our Edmonton-based team works alongside sponsors, sites, and regulators across Canada and beyond.

We offer access to an established site network that gives our team unmatched proximity to trial sites and patients. That connection fuels everything we do.

Careers at MDTrials

MDTrials is a Canadian clinical research organization with two sides: MDTrials CRO, delivering specialty clinical development and trial execution, and MDTrials Sites, a growing network of research-ready Canadian clinical sites.

We're agile, and growing purposefully. That means the people who join now shape how this works rather than inherit it — and it means we hire carefully, for people who want responsibility rather than a defined lane.

How we hire

We don't run a permanent list of open vacancies. Roles open when studies are awarded and sites are activated, and they're often filled from people we've already met.

So this is an open invitation. If your experience fits the work below, tell us now — not when a posting appears. When a role opens, we go to the people who've already introduced themselves.

Where we recruit

  • Clinical operations: Clinical Research Associates and monitors · Clinical Trial Project Managers · Study Start-Up and Regulatory Specialists · Trial Master File and essential document specialists
  • Site operations: Clinical Research Coordinators · Site Start-Up Specialists · Site administration and study support
  • Quality and compliance: GCP auditors · Quality Assurance specialists · Document control and training coordinators
  • Specialist and fractional: We engage qualified specialists on a per-programme basis — medical monitoring, pharmacovigilance, biometrics, medical writing. If you work independently in one of these areas, we'd like to know you.
  • Investigators and clinics: If you're a physician interested in research, or a clinic considering building a research programme, that's a different conversation — Partner Your Clinic.
  • Early in your career: Clinical research has a real entry problem: most roles ask for experience you can only get by having a role. We won't pretend we can solve that at our size — but we do read every application from people starting out, and we'd rather build coordinators and CRAs than only hire them. If you're early-career, tell us what you've actually done: a research practicum, lab or clinic work, a GCP certification you completed on your own initiative, a thesis that involved human participants, a job where you were responsible for records being right. We're more interested in evidence you're careful and finish things than in a title.

What we look for

  • People who understand that documentation is the work, not paperwork about the work
  • Comfort with responsibility, and with saying when something's wrong
  • Curiosity about why a process exists before proposing to change it
  • Care for participants that survives a difficult week
  • The ability to work independently without going quiet

Where the work happens

Most roles are remote or hybrid, and we're structured for distributed work. Two exceptions: site-based coordinator roles are at the clinic, because that's where participants are, and monitoring and auditing roles are remote with travel to investigational sites.

What we offer

  • Genuine responsibility early — no layers between you and the work
  • Direct access to senior people, because there aren't many of us
  • Exposure across the trial lifecycle rather than a single function
  • Flexible arrangements, including part-time and contract where it suits both sides
  • A quality system that supports the work instead of sitting beside it

How to apply

Email careers@mdtrials.ca with:

  • Your CV
  • A short note — three paragraphs is plenty — on the kind of work you want and why MDTrials
  • Tell us where you live, if you will relocate, and if you have open authorization to work in Canada for any employer.
  • Availability, and whether you're looking for full-time, part-time or contract
  • Rate or salary expectations

What happens next

We read everything and we reply to everyone that we can take forward, though it may take a few weeks. If there's a fit now, we'll say so. If there isn't, we'll tell you that too. No silent rejections.

A note on your information

Your application contains personal information. We use it only to assess your application and to contact you, we don't share it outside MDTrials, and we retain it for 12 months unless you ask us to remove it sooner — just email us. See our [Privacy Notice].

MDTrials is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates and will provide accommodation during the recruitment process on request.
